Product Descriptions
Product Overview
Gyproc ThermaLine laminates are the perfect way to enhance thermal insulation.
Whether designed into buildings from the outset or retro-fitted in to older buildings, they provide an easy way to help comply with Building Regulations Approved Document L in England and Wales and Section 6 in Scotland.
They can also contribute towards credits in the Code for Sustainable Homes, to improve the sustainability of new housing.
Thermal laminates are relatively lightweight boards and
require no additional structural support.
Completely clear cavities can be maintained - the best form
of protection against rain penetration over a long period, particularly
in exposed locations.
With the insulation as close to the internal surface as possible, Gyproc ThermaLine laminates provide a rapid response to intermittent heating, creating more comfortable living spaces for occupants.
The integral vapour control in Gyproc ThermaLine Plus and Super reduce the risk of condensation.
Gyproc ThermaLine laminates can eliminate cold bridging when installed continuously over framing members or joists.
They can be used to provide additional insulation in the roof and used for room-in-the-roof applications.
Internal dry lining and
insulation in just one fixing operation - meaning buildings can be
completed faster.
Rapid response to intermittent heating - creating comfortable
living conditions for the occupant more quickly.
Reduced risk of condensation - a key factor when designing
domestic dwellings.
Wide product range to meet the Building Regulations on a
variety of masonry or timber frame walls, new-build or refurbishment.
Can also contribute additional insulation to roof linings -
for typical 3 storey constructions or room-in the-roof conversions
Gyproc ThermaLine Basic
provides a base level improvement in thermal insulation, which is ideal when used in combination with other insulation or where modest upgrades are required.
The range of thicknesses suits the low-level upgrades available.
Gyproc ThermaLine Plus
has added benefits, including a a higher performing insulant backing, and an integral vapour control to minimise the risk of condensation forming behind the lining.
Window reveals
The 27mm is the thinnest of the laminates with an integral vapour control, making it an ideal board to insulate around window reveals.
Timber frame constructions
The new 48mm laminate has been designed with a 12.5mm Gyproc WallBoard backing to provide 30 minutes fire resistance, ideal for use in timber frame constructions, as part of the internal wall solution.
Gyproc ThermaLine Super
is available in a wide range of thicknesses from 30mm - 90mm and provides solutions for a whole variety of constructions, including refurbishments and conversions of properties requiring substantial thermal upgrades. All boards have vapour control as standard, so provides peace of mind for all environments.

Technical Data
The thermal properties of building materials and building elements are defined most commonly by terms and symbols as described below:
Thermal conductivity (λ - Lambda value)
(l) This is a measure of a material’s ability to transmit heat, and is expressed as heat flow in watts per m2 of surface area for temperature gradient of one Kelvin (K) per metre thickness. It is expressed as W/mK.
Generally, dense materials have high thermal conductivity and are inefficient thermal insulants, whereas lightweight materials have low conductivity and can be efficient thermal insulants.
The lower the (λ - thermal conductivity) value of a material, the better is its insulating efficiency.
Thermal resistance (R)
This is the measure of the resistance to the passage of heat offered by the thickness of a material and is expressed as m2K/W.
The thermal resistance of a material is obtained by the following calculation ...
R = t (thickness in metres) divided by λ (thermal conductivity)
The higher the resistance of the element the better is its insulating efficiency.
Thermal transmittance (U Value)
The U Value of a building element is a property of its whole construction, including airspaces, and is the measure of its ability to transmit heat under steady state conditions. It is calculated by adding the reciprocal sum of all the individual thermal resistances and is expressed as W/m2K.
The lower the U Value of the element, the better its thermal insulation properties.
